[TEAM PROFILE] Farmco Knight
Farmco Knight is a joint team between Farmco Chem Basketball Club and Knight Fury Basketball Club. They are two clubs from different divisions coming together as one team to create a functioning club with development training and professionalism.
Farmco Chem Basketball Club has been around since 2008 and is known throughout the basketball community in Malaysia for their achievements in national tournaments while Knight Fury has been established since 2016, having only participated in local tournaments.
Farmco Knight’s owner and manager Lim Geok Ming is grateful and explains that the Malaysia Pro League (MPL) Development League is a true stepping stone for his club and for the progression of the game in Malaysia.
“This league provides us with a platform to develop ourselves even further by mixing up our national players and amateur players together in one tournament.”
“They (amateurs) will be able to showcase their talent and fruit of training while the national players will be guiding and honing their skills.”
Knight Fury is a very family oriented team. They aim to give players who love the game a place to call home.
“We train and develop players to the very best we can and if they do get a better offer elsewhere, we encourage them to take it.”
“This is because we want our players to grow and to experience the sport as a career. If ever they want to come back to us, be it to train or coach, we will welcome them with open arms.”
The team dreams to be a central hub of basketball for players of all age and gender, to develop and provide for basketball youth of today.
“Sometimes we have youngsters come up to us and telling us they want to train with us and we let them,” says Geok Ming. “Things like these inspires us to do even more.”
The team trains at SJKC La Salle, Sri Petaling every Monday and Friday night, so drop by if you’re interested in getting to know the team more or to train with them.
Their motto is “D Attitude” where they prioritize the love for the game over anything else.
