June 3, 2019- In true underdog fashion, the Red Baron Youth have emerged as the 2019 MPL Development League (D-League) champions after seeing off the much favoured KL Dragons in the winner-takes-all Game 3 of the Finals. There was no shortage of drama as well as Red Baron took the game into overtime courtesy of last-gasp attempt by the brilliant Ng Zhen Yu before overpowering the Dragons in the clutch for a 68-62 win. It is almost a Cinderella story for Red Baron as their team of misfits and discards from others were never given a rat’s chance to trouble superstar-laden Dragons much less win the trophy. - 2019 MPL D League Finals Game 2 Recap June 2, 2019- Isn’t the Finals a funny thing? We could have sworn the KL Dragons were well on their way to clinching the MPL Development League (D-League) title after a dominating performance in Game 1 of the best-of-three series on Friday. But the Red Baron Youth had other ideas in their mind as they not only refused to go down, they delivered one of their best showing this season to nail a sensational 84-73 win over the Dragons in Game 2. It is a win well worth taking note of as Red Baron has wiped out the Dragons’ clean slate, dealing them their first defeat of the season. However if your team is Red Baron Youth, then you’ve got to be prepared to live through the horror once again. Because Red Baron tried so hard and gave it a good go but faded so badly in Game 1 of the MPL Development League (D-League) Finals. - 2019 MPL D League Semi Finals Recap (26/5/19) May 27, 2019- And so we have it. After eight weeks of action in the MPL Development League (D-League), the competition is now entering the finale stage with two teams having won their rights to compete for the championship. However unlike the quarter-finals where the underdogs came up tops, normal order was restored in the semi-finals as top seeds KL Dragons and second seed Red Baron Youth both defeated their East Malaysian opponents. - 2019 MPL D League Quarter Finals Recap (25/5/19) May 27, 2019- Welcome to the playoffs of the MPL Development League (D-League). This is where teams get serious and the quality of the action goes up a level. And it’s been a hell of a start to the playoffs as seeds tumble, first with sixth seeds Kuching Lord Tiger knocking out third seeds Titijaya with walk-off buzzer beater by Maegen Mahadevan. That was soon followed by fifth seeds Miri Firehorse producing one of their finest performances to send fourth seeds Westports Malaysia Dragons down the exit ramp as the East Malaysian pride stood up to be counted. - 2019 MPL D League Day 19 Recap (19/5/19) May 22, 2019- Game Day 19 of the MPL Development League (D-League), the last day of regular season action, still delivered quite an explosive end despite the cast for the playoffs already set. First the KL Dragons completed their sweep of the season with their 10th straight win by beating Kuching Lord Tiger then VAG lit up on the last game by torching GoStrong. It was however more a case of extraordinary scoring by VAG’s Tan Kai Bin who broke the D-League record with 54 points in the game. It is Titijaya who progressed as they finally regained their form to trounce Speed Hunters whilst Kuching Lord Tiger kept their winning streak going to take the last spot in the playoffs.
